Great article - it highlights some common ground for those 'adults' who are unsure of them selves and their future! I think it's great that you've taken some time to analyse and discuss why we act as we do...

Great article. I think people these days sell themselves short as far as their aspirations and goals. We really could and should be aiming for greater ambitions.

After publishing this article I thought about what you wrote Nick, that you want to know what others 'feel'. Often it's difficult to put emotions into words, so even if you did ask a friend directly their answer would be interpreted very differently than the reality. As I walked down the high street yesterday I tried to establish what everyone was feeling by looking at their facial expressions - after two minutes I was laughing at the huge diversity!
I believe a lot can be established if we learn to pick up on the subconscious cues rather than choose to ignore them. Thanks for the comment,

I have to say this is one of the most relevant and observant things I've ever read.

You said what was already swimming around in my head, that I couldn't make clear for myself until I read that.

I love the article Tom. I would reccomend getting it edited before you submit it to the public though. It really made me feel a lot better about my lack of a desire to sit in a circle and just talk about people's days. I want to know how they FELT during the day. I want to know what they LEARNED today. I could care less what the hell they actually did, and being so, I don't have much conversation with people where I don't excuse myself after the god-awful
'hey- how are you.'
'great- how are you?'
'great...'
'yeah...'
'So.. what'd you do today?'

I just don't really seem to care that Jenny's on her period or that Billy got too drunk last night...

And I'm glad to see it's not just me.

Great article Tom! This applies to us girlies a lot too. There is this whole thing about being a career woman now, that I think distracts us from the ambition to raise a family and help the world by being more loving. I don't know how i want to leave the world, but definitely in a better place for my future kids.
