By having an amazingly strong core confidence, and an even stronger external confidence.
I know it's hard to come up with something like that overnight, though, so you need to fake it.
When someone makes you the butt of their joke, take half a second to think about whether the joke was legitimately funny. If it was, laugh. If not, raise your eyebrows, say something like "yeah man, that was hilarious. How's that stand up comedy career working out for you?". I know they say sarcasm is the poor man's wit, but goshdarnit, it's just so much fun.
There are two things you need to do if you want to build up your confidence.
The first is to fake it until you make it. Act like you could not be more confident. Chin up, shoulders back, not slumping, back straight. Meet people's eyes. Smile.
The second is to give yourself a pep talk every morning, and whenever you need it. List your good points, tell yourself that you're going to learn something today. Rejoice that you're alive.
Also, start meditating for a half hour every morning. The day will seem so much brighter.
Hope I helped.
