Default Increasing Self Discipline

I've noticed that this is a major sticking point for me. It's hard for me to focus on sarging, let alone other shit like school. I used to have massive amounts of self discipline in areas like academics and I don't really know what happened over the years to make me so complacent. Basically I need a kick in the ass. What are some ways to improve self-discipline/motivation?

you just have to anchor yourself into the right mindset. i learned this technique from tony Robbins, its kinda like hypnotizing yourself to enjoy studying/working or whatever. its worked wonders for me, I've turned my GPA around from a 2.5 to a 3.5 using this method.

close your eyes and think about how shitty you FEEL resulting from not getting the grade/result you want, whether it be failing a test or getting rejected or whatever. then think about how you FEEL when you do your work. how it feels when you get an A, or the first time you hooked up with a girl, or any success. then afterwards just start whatever work you want to do, dont commit yourself to any amount of time, just starting it. 95% of the time after the first minute of doing work i WANT to continue and i am actually enjoying whatever it was i was not too excited about doing.

Hmm, interesting. I'm definitely gonna try this. I've never been to big into self-hypnotism/self-help techniques like this so I dunno how well it's gonna work, but then again maybe it's just what I need. Thanks man.

here is what you do.

make defiine goals for yourself. They should be very difficult goals and YOU SHOULD put a time limit on them. So 'Sleep with 6 women in one week by the end of january' etc.

NEXT put yourself on the line. Tell people about your goal and get them to give you shit if you dont do it.

For example- When I was first learning approaching i had a friend I told and gave him my wallet and told him if I didnt open 5 sets tonight he was not allowed to give my wallet back and therefore I had to walk home.

It works.

Short Version:

Take a notebook. On the first page, title it "Short Term Goals", then write a continuous list of your short terms goals. Page two, mid range goals. Page three, long term goals. Start from there.

I like that notebook idea. And to build on that, if you are going for a goal a certain way and you don't seem to be getting anywhere, try a different approach. If someone has taught you something and it just isn't working for you, don't be afraid to try different things.

I need self discipline aswell, I always tell myself I am going to act a certain way or do certain things around these girls but then I always just break down and just go impro and I end up fucking up what I was trying to achieve. It's kid of like I need something quick and always accesible to take my mind away from stuff.

Here's my breakdown, take notebook and start writing each and everything u think u should do everyday in order to get good grades, good interactions etc. and write how much time u want to spend on it everyday. Then write out a definite schedule u will follow to complete each task. try as much as u can to follow it, the more u follow it the more u'll get used to it. eliminate every single activity that unnecessary if needed.

the first step, which is writing this down NEEDS some discipline too, because most ppl think they can just keep it in there heads and they'll do it all. the fact of the matter is that u NEED to put it on paper and u NEED to keep running thru tht paper day in and day out until u have mastered every thing u want.

I'd also highly recommend using Mithra's advice as well as this

Just remember that if u dont do it, its ONLY ur loss and so u have to take initiative on ur own
