Thumbs down You know we're doing bad when...

And even worse when people say "How the rest of the country views Californians"

I know it's supposed to be funny, but really? C'mon. Shows how ignorant the masses are

You hear a lot of europeans (at least the dutch) say things about america like:
- "They're all a bunch of overemotional crybabies"
- "They're ignorant"
- "They don't know anything about the world"
- "they don't even know where England and Germany are in Europe"
- "They're to conservative"

What I always wonder, We know about the country's in europe and can point them out on a map. But not the states of America.. Could it be that American's can point out most of the states but not any European country? That would be logical right!

>>To Uziel: Nope. We can't. Hah. Pathetic really, isn't it?

Pretty much a lot of America is ignorant to the fact that we're not necersarrily superior to all else out there, and also to that its ok for others to be better than us or even...(don't say it Alex, plz!!!lolz!!!...) different from us! We're stubborn bitches to the world pretty much. Specially now with Bush as president we've been overtly so.

The global view of America is, as I'm sure you know, very very poor. This is because the people that make it on to TV, and the people that make the news overseas, are very generally dumb, ignorant assholes.
Also, there's a group of guys in Aus called The Chaser, who have done a few segments highlighting the 'average' American's ignorance. Things like going up to random people in the street with a globe and asking them to point out Australia. Few (that was saw) could. Some people even said it was in Canada.

3 quick incidents....
1.
i was in LV on a bus going to the airport. On my backpack is a picture of the Oz flag.
'are you going home?' a women on the bus asked me
'in a couple of weeks, first im off to NY' i responded
'its only a short trip from there'
'huh?, actually its REAL far'
'isnt that a canadian flag?'

this lady did look a little lower socio...

2.
Now in NY out drinking at a bar
'hey man, your not from her (this man was very observant), where are you from?
'im from australia'
'thats down south there somewhere, isnt it? (referring to a southern state)
'um, nah mate, actually its another country'
'ahhh yeah, of course'

2.
In Poland sitting waiting for a bus with an american mate i met days before. Two older tourist come up and are speaking to a young french women.
'so where are you from?' asked the us women trying to make small talk
'ah, we are from France' in a thick french accent
'oh, from Paris?'
'yes'
'so you can speak both french and english?'
'yes, we learn it in highschool'
'so are you speaking french now?'
with a very strange look on her face the french women responds 'um no, im speaking english'
'oh'

i laughed my ass off, and the us guy i was with just hung his head

in honesty, america is my favourite country i have been to, with the nicest and friendliest poeple i have experienced.

That's the video Action is talking about.

Although I think a lot of bad thing about American's because of things like that and my experiences with them. When I have this discussion with friends or family I always defend America because of the people I have met on this board.

Oohh... i've watched that video long time ago.

It was hilarious but i kinda disagree to it. They only went up to a small number of people with those questions, it can't exactly be used to generalize all Americans. That's just unfair to the others who actually would know the answers.

This is why the older generation in Asia (35-50 y'o) often have this twisted impression and think westerners are stupid.

LoL.
