Exclamation How can I go about making a website???

Okay so here the deal, I was just in the shower and had a great website idea...I wont get into specifics right now because though I trust most of you guys, the regulars, we have a lot of lurkers/unregistered viewers who can take the idea and put into motion a lot faster than I could.

I am sure most of you have been to Fmylife or textsfromlastnight, and that is the same layout that I am going to need. I know absolutely nothing about web design and most likely and going to have to pay for somebody to do it because I probably wont be able to do it myself..regardless, I am pretty sure that it should be successful because its funny because of the user generated content from real life experiences.

Of course I want to make a little bit of money off of it so what are ways I can do that? I know I can sell ad space, but I am going to need hits and show signs of life before any website is going to buy the space.

Anybody here have experience with running a site, of course this one started off small and slow and grew bigger and it is where we are at now, but at one point had a lot more activity. How can I go about advertising the site and what not???

I need some help basically lol

lol NickH.

It's pretty use, dude. First, find a domain that you'd like for your website.

For instance, our domain is www.pualifestyle.com. There are plenty of services to buy domains and check which ones are available. Just google 'buy domains'... or just try my favorites www.godaddy.com or www.dreamhost.com.

Then you ought to choose a template. This can be the complicated part... as you want your site to reflect exactly what you want. So I would STRONGLY suggest you first draw a map of what you want your site to look like. Don't just imagine it. Then if you can find the 'perfect' layout, just go with any and you'll improve as you go along.

Setting up a template can also be tricky because of WHERE TO DO IT! I remember struggling with this for days! But if you are patient enough to read the tutorials (or simply call customer service) it should be a pancake.

When you design your template... really think about what your website for... if you'll be putting ads, or selling products and the like.

But yeah, bro. I'll do it if you pay me

P.S. Strongly suggest you buy a book or read an online tutorial on websites. It'll make your life a whole lot easier.
