I'm not very well known in this forum, so I don't know how many will actually click and read this, but if you've started, don't stop... read to the end, it's good stuff, I hope

. I'm not the most poetic guy either, so bear with me. Anyway, it's time to give back something to this website since I benefited a lot from you guys' writings...
The Work Out
I used to be chubby, not super fat, but chubby. Still, I was embarrased to take off my shirt when going to the beach or the pool, I didn't want people to see my stomach jiggle. I was self-conscious, I'm sure I'm not the only one who went through that. Some of my friends told me that I shouldn't care because people should love me for who I was, but even though I tried to think this way... it didn't work. My mom told me the same thing, she said "chubby" was good, it meant I was healthy... it's worse to be skinny, well I didn't believe that. I was still self conscious, obviously fooling yourself into believing you look good when you don't doesn't work well!
Anyway, if you're a bit overwheight, my advise is that you begin by losing weight, not creating muscle. A lot of people begin lifting to create muscle thinking that this will also cause them to lose weight, but in reality it looks bad. Do cardio, lots of it. I remember I used to run so much up and down in the stairs of my High School's football stadium that sometimes I would throw up. This of course happened at the beginning and it was result of me pushing against resitance. I wasn't anorexic or any shit like that.
Do cardio and eat healthy. Don't exhaust yourself burning calories just to gain them back later. I see a lot of people say "Well I worked out hard today, I can reward myself by eating chinese food". Do not do this!. Discipline yourself. Craves are really psychological, if you PUSH yourself to focus on losing weight (your goal) then tell yourself "No!" and eat something healthier. Change those fried eggs for boiled eggs. Replace that white bread for wheat bread. Eat lots of fruits when you're not feeling energetic, don't buy the monter crap. If you have to, replace everything in your kitchen with healthy food... in that way, you don't find anything fattening in your kitchen when you're tempted. Leave your money at home when you go out. Do everything you can to make it impossible to eat unhealthy, anhything! In fitness and nutrition, everything is fair.
Use the three D's:
Desire
Drive
Discipline
Your desire is to lose weight, then find your drive (mine was to feel good about my body) and then discipline yourself.
After you lose some weight, begin lifting for either growing muscle or toning. I will write about this on another occasion... Just remember, keep going. Feeling good about your body is so important that I will never get tired of speaking for it.
