Talking 2008 Beinjing Olympics

How many of you are keeping up with the Olympics? If you ask yourself "Why hasn't Daniel been posting?", well - there is a reason . So far I've been following them randomly, I still need to know schedules and such. So write what you're following what impressed you, what disappointed you, what are you cheering for and so on. I'll start with Michael Phelps

The guy who made it into the Olympics at 15 in the sport of swimming, won a medal at 19 and won it again now at 23, breaking a new World Record.

This guy is an awesome dude. Humble person, persistent and without a doubt has the courage of some of the world's greatest athletes.

Next, we have the USA 2008 Basketball Team, which defeated China earlier today 101-70. WOOH!

Something disappointing was the brutual staving that killed a family member of a volleyball coach for the U.S. Another disappointing this was I DID NOT WATCH THE OPENING CEREMONY. GOD DAMN IT! I saw the highlights and HOLY SHIT it was the COOLIEST.
IF any one can download it PLEASE DO and post it here.
And the Chinesse gymnastic team are fucking savage. Specially the guys that hang from the hoops and do flips.

i love the olympics- every facet of it engrosses me- and i tape all that i can during the day while at work- then watch it up to at least midnight catchin gup on it all.

i love the fact that the world takes interest in sports they wouldnt normally- ie European handball (which is a very excellent fast paced game), volleyball (which is soooo powerful and athletic), cross-country equestrian, synchronised diving and hockey. These sports never get any air time here in oz, but are realy fantastic sports in their own rights.

Mens Basketball
Now for the basketball- i love seeing america getting beaten in this. Lat times olympics gave me a horn to see all those arrogant men with ideas of grandeur lose convincingly- dont get me wrong- individually they were the greatest players there- but they thought they were better, and thats why they were shit!!
This team is not only awesome- but respect other players and teams way more- and thats the reason they will easily win the gold medal. Instead of putting themselves on a platform above everyone else, they know they are there to won- not posture. A perfect example i saw was the players randomly sat on chairs in the practice courts and the media were invited to go and just talk with them. It was so unreal to see!!
No more vince carter or KG screaming and posturing and disrespecting the game and the other players.
Team USA will cream everyone (except maybe argentina)- and i will not miss a second!

Womens basketball
Looking forward to the lisa leslie Vs Lauren Jackson fight for the womens basketball!
LJ is last years WNBA MVP and Australia are the current World Champions from last year. And USA are the basketball superpower with a tallent ridden squad and the greatest rookie EVER in Parker.
The war of words between these two girls have already started- and in the previous olympics LJ ripped out one of Leslie's extensions- whoops! lol.

Oh- and lets not forget the Becky Hammond lead Russia. Runners up to Australia at last years world champs- by beating team USA.

The second half of the olympics should be great- as the athletics or something to behold!!

Phelps is a legend! It was crazy when he went past the Japanese competitor (i cant remember his name, but he was FAST, a machine). Phelps gave his team a great advantage, but the team made it happen, woooh!! 8 gold metals, man!

and the USA men basketball team beat Spain. I LOVED the game!

Usain Bolt is amazing. I love the way he just wants to win, win and WIN. Forget about the World Record! Gold is all he wanted! He's a legend in the making. Unbeatable!!!

I can't stop being so incredibly inspired by all the athletes. I mean even someone who comes in 40th in the rankings, your still 40th in the WORLD! I mean come on!

Just imagine the pride you and your friends would have for you if you won a gold!

I have been following these religiously... I watch them no matter what sport is on. I love this tournament... And it brings all countries and ladies together... A great conversational point. Not an opener, but works well as a follow up.
